Research on Housing Burden Using the PIR Index
This project analyzed housing burden across Seoul using price-to-income ratio patterns, and it helped solidify my early workflow for spatial data analysis and public presentation.
What it is
This was an earlier research project on housing burden in Seoul using the price-to-income ratio as the main interpretive frame.
Why it exists
I wanted to understand how housing pressure varied across administrative districts and how that variation could be explained clearly enough to present and discuss in a research setting.
What changed
The project gave me a more disciplined way to move from raw spatial data to a story that could be defended in front of other people. It also pushed me toward a workflow in which data processing, mapping, and explanation had to be connected rather than treated as separate tasks.
What I learned
- even a relatively standard index becomes more interesting when mapped carefully
- the presentation layer matters because it changes what patterns other people can actually see
- projects like this prepared the ground for later work such as the AI-driven floor area ratio imputation paper
Next
I do not plan to expand this into a major public section, but I want to keep it available because it shows an important early step in how my research practice formed.
